Hotspot Technology Explained
In layman’s terms a hotspot can be described as a public space where computers wireless access enabled can access the Internet. A computer within the hotspot area contacts the closest accessible wireless network using the network interface card. Radio waves from the nearby wireless networks are spotted by the interface card and when a strong signal is found, the interface card will get permission to gain access to the network. In many cases access is granted for free, but it can also be fee based requiring pre-registration to use it. There are normally a modem and a wireless router at the centre of the network used for creation of the hotspot. The further away a computer is located from the centre of the hotspot, the weaker the signal will be.

Various Internet Access Methods
Internet access is no longer limited to a dial-up modem, although it is certainly still the primary way of connecting to the Internet by a large number of users. For businesses however, broadband connectivity through Digital Subscriber Line technology has changed their ability to communicate, retrieve, and share information across the globe. DSL is provided over the normal copper telephone lines, whereas cable broadband simply uses coaxial cable in the same way that cable television does. Today however, you also get wireless Internet access using mobile phone technology with the buzz words being 3G, Edge and more, but it is not the end. It is now possible to get wireless Internet access not only by means of cellular radio wave technology, but also satellite. NEDA provides clients options which include all of the above.
